The state-of-the-art Microlab is a unique instructional cleanroom facility committed to education in state-of-the-art micro nanofabrication of MEMS and integrated circuits. The Microlab is currently under the management of the Electrical Engineering Department of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science at UCLA. The microlab teaches and supports school-wide multidisciplinary microfabrication laboratory courses in the fields of MEMS and integrated circuits. Courses involve step-by-step processes used to manufacture a variety of MEMS and integrated circuitry devices. The establishment of REU site expands the opportunity to students with an integrated approach for the hands-on microfabrication education and research experiences at the Microlab in the state-of-the-act technology areas of microelectronics, microphotonics, and MEMS. In order to better facilitate research and education, the Microlab consists of a full-time professional staff, faculty, and a number of teaching assistants for each laboratory course.
